Established in 1963, the White Horse Inn has been a cornerstone of the Longburn and Palmerston North community for over five decades. It boasts of being a regular stop for workers from the freezing works and a favourite haunt for touring rock bands. The friendly atmosphere at our inn has earned a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike. During the 1980s, the White Horse Inn became a renowned Rock 'n' Roll hotspot, serving as a key venue on the national tour circuit. For generations, the White Horse Inn has been more than just a bar—it’s been a rite of passage. Many locals fondly recall their first drink here. As the time wheel turned, they’ve brought their children and now grandchildren to experience the same warm and congenial atmosphere. The inn is filled with anecdotes of lifelong friendships, blossoming romances, and joyous nights of music and laughter.
Our walls stand testimony to legendary performances by musicians who would go on to achieve great fame. We are proud to associate ourselves with former Mutton Birds bassist, Alan Gregg, who began his musical journey playing in bands at the White Horse Inn. He then went on to create history by joining the iconic Kiwi rock group in the early '90s.
